Measurement

Stop Guessing. Start Measuring.

At the amateur level, goaltender stats are either missing or worthless. CreaseLogic gives you the objective baseline you need—verifiable performance data that stands independent of memory, bias, or team results.

The Data-Context Gap

Goaltending performance analysis is broken at the amateur level. You're being judged without evidence.

Data Scarcity

Most amateur leagues don't track shots on goal. When they do, the data is often unreliable—guessed at by distracted scorekeepers or volunteers.

Metric Insufficiency

Traditional stats (SV%, GAA) are lagging indicators. They ignore shot quality, defensive environment, and context—the factors that actually matter.

Subjective Review

Video analysis provides context but lacks structure. The "Eye Test" is anecdotal and unquantifiable—impossible to track over time or compare objectively.

The Objective Baseline

CreaseLogic eliminates 'feeling-based' assessments. You might feel you played poorly because of one soft goal—but the data might show you stopped 10/10 cross-crease passes, proving a strong technical floor despite a mental lapse.

A Verifiable Record of History

Your performance becomes a permanent, objective record—independent of memory, bias, or team results. This is the foundation for everything else: development, recruitment, and validation.

Human-in-the-Loop Annotation

We don't rely on automated algorithms that miss screens or deflections. Every shot is graded by trained analysts who understand the game.

Objective Event Tracking

We track facts, not opinions. Where did the shot happen? Was the goalie screened? What happened to the rebound? No subjective "grading"—just verifiable reality.

Full Context Capture

We track every event leading up to each shot—passes, carries, screens—so you understand not just what happened, but why.

Shot Classification: Context-Aware Grading

Not all shots are created equal. Our classification system categorizes every shot based on pre-shot movement, location, and visual obstruction—giving you the context traditional stats ignore.

Grade X

Defensive Breakdown

Cross-crease passes, 2-on-0s, multi-lateral movements. Complete defensive failure.

Grade A

High Danger

Breakaways, pass-outs, danger zone screens. Chances that separate elite from average.

Grade B

Medium Danger

Danger zone rebounds, gray net drives, unscreened slot shots. Moderate threat.

Grade C

Low Danger

Perimeter shots, outside rebounds. Low percentage plays where you should succeed.

Metrics That Actually Matter

Traditional stats tell you what happened. CreaseLogic metrics tell you why—and how you compare.

GSAx

Goals Saved Above Expected

How many goals did you save (or surrender) relative to the difficulty of the shots you faced? This metric isolates your performance from your team\'s defense.

SVAx

Save% Above Expected

Measures efficiency relative to shot difficulty, independent of volume. Did you outperform the average goalie given the quality of chances you faced?

RVA

Rebound Value Added

Quantifies rebound control. When you make a save, does the play die—or does it create a second chance in the slot? This metric rewards puck-killing efficiency.
